Tarot Astrology Wheel
Explore live planetary positions through the Golden Dawn correspondence between zodiac signs, the 36 decans, classical planets, the four elements, modalities, tarot suits, Major Arcana, and the numbered Minor Arcana.
What the wheel shows and how to explore it
The Tarot Astrology Wheel brings zodiac signs, the 36 decans, planetary rulers, elements, modalities, Tarot suits, Major Arcana and Minor Arcana correspondences into one interactive chart. You can explore the sky for the current moment or choose another date and time, then follow each live planet to the exact zodiac degree and Tarot correspondence connected with that position.
What you can explore
The wheel is arranged in several rings. Each ring adds a different layer of information. The outer structures show the zodiac and the 36 decans, while the inner structures show the ruling planets, elements and Tarot correspondences connected with those divisions.
Live planetary markers are placed on the wheel according to their calculated zodiac longitude for the date and time you select.
Using Now and choosing a date
Select Now to load the current planetary positions. You can also choose another date and time and press Show Correspondence to explore a different moment.
The chart then places each live planet at its calculated zodiac degree and updates the selected correspondence panel.
The 12 zodiac signs
The zodiac ring divides the wheel into twelve signs. Each sign covers 30 degrees and has its own element, modality, planetary ruler and Major Arcana correspondence.
- Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
- Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
- Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
- Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
The 36 decans
Each zodiac sign is divided into three ten-degree sections called decans. Across the whole zodiac this creates 36 decans.
Every decan has its own planetary ruler and numbered Minor Arcana card. Click any decan sector on the wheel to inspect that exact correspondence directly.
Planetary rulers
The planetary ruler shown for a decan describes the planet connected with that ten-degree section. The wheel uses the classical planetary sequence for these decan rulerships.
Live planet markers let you see which decan each planet currently occupies and which Tarot card is connected with that position.
Elements and modalities
Every sign belongs to one of the four elements and one of three modalities. These add another layer to the selected correspondence.
- Cardinal signs begin and initiate.
- Fixed signs sustain, hold and concentrate.
- Mutable signs adjust, connect and transition.
Tarot suits
The Minor Arcana suits are linked with the four elements: Wands with Fire, Pentacles with Earth, Swords with Air, and Cups with Water.
This allows each decan to connect a zodiac section with a numbered Tarot card from the suit belonging to that sign's element.
Major and Minor Arcana
The selected correspondence panel shows both the Major Arcana card connected with the zodiac sign and the numbered Minor Arcana card connected with the decan.
When a Tarot image is available, the selected card is shown in the preview so you can inspect the card together with the planet, sign, degree and decan.
Live planetary positions
The circular planet markers are calculated for the date and time currently loaded on the wheel. Click any marker to see the planet's exact zodiac degree and the correspondence attached to the decan containing that degree.
This lets you move from the live sky directly into the zodiac, planetary and Tarot structure of the wheel.
The Moon phase
The selected panel also shows the Moon phase for the date being explored. This adds the lunar condition of that moment alongside the planetary and Tarot correspondence.
How to move around the wheel
On desktop, use the mouse wheel to zoom and drag the wheel when it is enlarged. On mobile, one finger scrolls the page and two fingers zoom and move the wheel.
Use Reset view whenever you want to return the wheel to its centered position.
How to read a selected correspondence
Start with the selected planet or decan. Then read the zodiac sign, exact degree, element, modality, Tarot suit, sign ruler, decan ruler, Major Arcana card and Minor Arcana card together.
The theme shown below the selected data brings these layers together into one focused description of the correspondence you are viewing.
How to use the wheel effectively
Begin with the current sky by pressing Now, then click through the live planets one by one. Notice which zodiac signs and decans are occupied and which Tarot cards appear. After that, choose another date and time and compare how the planetary placements and correspondences change.
You can also ignore the live planets and explore the 36 decan sectors directly. This makes the wheel useful both for studying the complete correspondence system and for seeing how a particular moment in the sky falls into that structure.
