Shamanic Callings: Finding Our Way (Shamanic Practice)

A unique combination of memoir and guidebook, Shamanic Callings addresses common questions that arise for people in modern societies who are drawn to assuming the role of shaman.
Drawing on her own story of trauma, initiation, training and practicing, Lenore Norrgard sheds light on the plight of westerners called to the shamanic path.
The author generously shares the wisdom she has gleaned from nearly 40 years of shamanic practice, relating what it took to become an effective shamanic healer.
Here you will find compassionate guidance in understanding different kinds of shamanic callings; how to discern your own calling; and whether and how to respond to your call.

"Shamanic Callings: Finding Our Way is the perfect book for those of you looking for someone you can truly trust if you are interested in stepping onto the path of the shamanic healer."
~ Sandra Ingerman, Author of 13 books on shamanism, including Soul Retrieval and Walking in Light

"If you want to get beneath all the hype around shamanism and learn what it is really like, this is the book for you. Lenore’s story shows how learning to engage directly with compassionate spirits can be life-changing. She describes the breadth and depth of the practice in an easy to read format. She also brings in a sobering reality check for those considering the shamanic path of the healer by presenting questions to ask yourself before embarking."
~Tasara Jen Stone, Author of The Ancient Bones of Ceremony: Remembering the Heartfelt Ways

"Clearly written, marvelously interesting, and full of personal, humane understanding, Shamanic Callings offers a compassionate and practical, ethical approach to shamanism. It elucidates what shamanic healing and practices are, and what they can offer – as well as what they are not, and what they cannot do. Extremely accessible, and inspiring: It captures the magic, and leaves out any BS!"
