Runes for Beginners: An A-to-Z Guide to Working with Runes
Runes have fascinated people for centuries, yet so many misconceptions have grown around them that beginners often don't know where to start. This book guides the reader from the very basics to a confident, informed practice — without pomposity and without blending fact with myth.
You'll learn what runes really are: at once an ancient script, a system of symbols, and a tool for reflection. You'll discover their true origins, trace their path from the earliest inscriptions to their modern revival, and learn to tell reliable knowledge from repeated legend.
The heart of this book is practice. You'll work through the meanings of every sign, learn to phrase questions, weave runes into a coherent message, and avoid the common mistakes. You'll get to know specific spreads as well as ways to bring runes into everyday life — meditation, bindrunes, talismans, and working with intentions. Nor is there any shortage of the ethics of readings and a sensible perspective on what runes can and cannot do.
Everything you need to take the first step with confidence and carry on by yourself.

A few words from the author:
Runes have accompanied me for many years, and over that time they've become more than a subject of interest to me — a way to pause, ask myself the right question, and look at my own affairs with a little distance.
When I was starting out, I lacked a book that spoke about runes simply and honestly: without fearmongering, without grand promises, and without repeating myths that have little to do with the real tradition. Many guides either overwhelmed me with mystery or treated the subject so superficially that, after reading, I still didn't know how to begin.
So I wrote this book the way I would once have wanted to read it. You'll find both knowledge about the origins of runes and concrete guidance on how to work with them day to day. I've tried to wrap nothing in needless fog and, wherever possible, to separate fact from interpretation.
You need no special gifts or initiation to begin. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to give runes a little attention. The rest will come with practice — and I hope this book will be a good companion for you at the start of that journey.
