Although modern medicine is most accepted worldwide, however there is no cure for all diseases in this or any other discipline including alternative and complementary medicine. I believe that if we can combine the best parts of modern, complementary and alternative medicine, we can provide highest quality of care to the patient. International Organisation of Integrated Health Practitioners is trying to combine conventional modern medicine with yoga, Ayurveda, TaiChi, Qigong, homeopathy, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Hypnotherapy, Chiropractice, Massage therapy, aromatherapy, dance therapy, music therapy, art therapy etc. Since combining all is quite a herculean task, particularly because I want to do it in in an evidence based way, I have decided to take smaller chunks. This book is a piece of combining modern conventional medicine with yoga and Ayurveda.

The book has fundamentals of systems and areas of convergence of the disciplines which were thought dissimilar and far apart, however I have tried to bring them together to have some taste and consider possibility of combining these for a better quality of life, preservation of health and cost-effectiveness. The book as 3 parts, the first part introduce modern medicine, yoga and Ayurveda with their uniqueness and commonness. Second part takes each body system on its own, and analyse the perspective of modern medicine, yoga and Ayurveda followed by understanding of a combined effect. Part three brings together all the discussion with impact and cost-benefit analysis.

Modern medicine excels at diagnosing and treating acute conditions and managing chronic diseases. It offers powerful tools for rapid symptom relief and lifesaving interventions. Its strength lies in its scientific rigor, its ability to standardize treatments, and its focus on disease pathology.
On the other hand, yoga offers a preventive approach to health, with physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. The body posture and gentle stretching movements ( asanas) bring improvement of bone and joint health, but altho contru#ibutes to overall physical health. The Breathing Exercises (Pranayams) help improving the air flow, the deep diapgraphmatic breathing improve the lung functions and overall oxygenation of tissues to improve vitality. The medictation techniques can calm the mind, and instil a sense of inner peace and balance. Its emphasis on mindfulness and self-care empowers individuals to play an active role in their health and is second to none for stress management which is a big contrinuting factor to the modern diseases.
Ayurveda, with its holistic and individual-centric view of health, offers personalised wellness strategies. Its focus on balancing the mind, body, and spirit, and its preventive approach, aligns well with contemporary understanding of wellness and chronic disease management. The jhealthy foods with alteration of diet pattern and life style helps and contribute further to the disease management in modern medicine. Additional benefits of the plant derived products have significant contribution to the chronic disease management.
Together, these systems can offer a multi-dimensional approach to health, providing comprehensive care that improves patient outcomes and satisfaction. By acknowledging and integrating the strengths of each system, we can move towards a model of health that is person-centred, holistic, and empowering.
The goal of this integrated approach is not to replace one system with another but to find the most effective combination for each individual. It's about respecting the uniqueness of each person, their health condition, and their personal beliefs and preferences.
The beauty of this integration lies in its flexibility and adaptability. There is a choice and it can be tailored to meet the unique needs and preferences of each individual.
Read this book and apply so as to get the maximum benefit of synergestic effects of all medical disciplines.
